CarillionAmey - Handhelds at the ready

Handhelds at the ready!

CarillionAmey understands that the delays getting faults seen to in a timely manner is one of the biggest issues raised by families. So we’ve rolled out over a thousand handheld devices across the business, each one having been upgraded with new software, that provides the vital data needed to spot your problem and identify the tasks to be done and the specialists needed to resolve it. All in all, the result should be a much smoother experience for families from when they make their initial call into our helpdesk.

Of course no technology is useful if people don’t understand how to use it. So our training teams have delivered an intense training package to operatives (our problem fixers), equipping them with the skills to interpret the data coming from the devices and to make quick, accurate decisions about what action to take. On top of that, we have identified 140 people in the business to act as Super Users, highly trained individuals located in all areas of the business who are able to share their expertise about the technology and deal with issues quickly.

We’re still in the early days and customers will gradually start to see the benefits over the coming weeks and months including reduced waiting times, fewer missed appointments and the right tradesperson sorting out families issues quickly and efficiently.

CarillionAmey Customer Service

Tailored training aims to boost customer service

CarillionAmey employs 138 Accommodation Officers (AOs) including Senior AOs and Trainees, who are our key people helping you when you move in and out of, or during your stay in your Service homes. They are often the first ‘face to face’ contact families have with CarillionAmey.

We are aware that in the past, some of our AOs didn’t always put customers first. As part of our Housing improvement plan we want to make sure that this is put right and so all of our AOs have recently taken part in an intensive training programme which was aimed at giving them a better understanding of the issues that Service families may face when moving home. Here’s what you should look out for in your AO:

New passport rule for British flying to US

Entry requirements

Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. You don’t need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this.

Visa Waiver Programme (VWP)

The VWP allows most British Citizen passport holders to visit the US for up to 90 days. The types of journey allowed under the VWP include tourism, certain types of business visit and transit to another country.
All travellers wishing to enter the US under the VWP now need to hold a passport with an integrated chip (an ePassport). Your passport is an ePassport if it carries this internationally recognised symbol on the front cover.
You won’t qualify for entry to the USA under the VWP, and will need to apply for a visa from the nearest US Embassy or Consulate, if:
  • you have a British passport that describes your nationality as something other than ‘British Citizen’
  • you’ve been arrested for certain crimes, even if it didn’t result in a criminal conviction
  • you’re a dual national of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria
  • you’ve travelled to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia or Yemen since March 2011
Certain exemptions apply on a case-by-case basis to those who have travelled to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia or Yemen since March 2011. For more information about these exemptions, see the website of the US Embassy.
If you’re in any doubt about whether you qualify for the VWP, or if you’re concerned that an existing ESTA may have been cancelled, you should contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate.
Those travelling under the VWP arriving by air or sea should provide details online at least 72 hours before travel. This is known as an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation or ESTA. For more information, and to apply online, visit the official ESTA website.

CHAPLAINCY OF FULWOOD BARRACKS

The Revd John Vincent is now in post as Bde DACG and can be contacted on the following numbers:
Mil 94554 2359.
Civ 01772 260359.
Mob 07500 575323.

From the Padre.

I have just arrived as chaplain to The Brigade and looking forward to meeting many of you over the course of my two year posting. I came with a certain amount of trepidation, having had a few postings over the years on the ‘other’ side of the Pennines but have been very impressed by the warm welcome and hospitality, not to mention the quality of real ales in Preston!
I am a priest in The Church of England and prior to joining the Army 13 years ago, served as a vicar for 16 years in London. During my time in the Army, I have served with many different units in UK, Germany and Cyprus, and operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Although I am Church of England, my remit is for the pastoral, spiritual and moral support of the Brigade and Garrison staff and dependents regardless of faith or denomination – my office is in the welfare hub, on the first floor next to the church and my door is always open.
For those of you who appreciate a bit of quiet time at the start of the day, I say Morning Prayer weekdays at 0830 (unless I am away from camp) and on Fridays at 0900. Everyone is welcome to come along. Our beautiful garrison church is open every day for private prayer or contemplation, and baptisms and weddings are by arrangement.
That’s probably enough from me for now – if I can be of help in any way, please do not hesitate to call in.

The Rev’d John Vincent CF
